Editing and Approvals Team Co-Coordinator

I started working at GHRD as an intern on the editing and approvals team in October 2023, while I was studying for my LLM in Public International Law from Utrecht University. I applied for an editing role instead of research, as I was excited about the prospect of getting to read and contribute to so many interesting articles and reports, shedding a much-needed spotlight on human rights abuses taking place across the globe, which might not be making headlines in mainstream media. In November 2024, I was promoted to a co-ordinator position, and I have been enjoying the new responsibilities ever since!Since graduating from my LLM with cum laude, I have returned to my home city of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and I am now working full-time as a personal judicial assistant to the Lady Chief Justice of Northern Ireland. I have a background in practicing law and human rights, with experience working as a paralegal at a leading, local human rights firm at the heart of Belfast. As co-coordinator of the editing and approvals team at GHRD, my responsibilities include scheduling and allocating reports and articles to be edited by the team in accordance with GHRD’s styling guidelines, ensuring 2–3-day deadlines are met, and overseeing final round of edits prior to publication. I also oversee the editing of newsbursts for the GHRDTV channel. What I enjoy about my role at GHRD is the opportunity to put my attention-to-detail and critical thinking skills to the test, while constantly undergoing personal development and learning about different global human rights issues.
