Human Rights Violations in Malaysia

Malaysia, a multicultural country with diverse religions, ethnicities, and refugees, predominantly consists of the Bumiputra's, also known as ''sons of the land''. Despite Malaysia's democratic ideals, such as equality, freedom of speech, and justice, ethnic rights violations against these minorities persist. Hate speech against minorities and migrant refugees, particularly the Rohingya refugees, is common. Migrant workers face labor abuses, enforced disappearances, and human rights violations including violence, LGBTQ abuse, media restrictions, child labor, and human trafficking. The Malaysian government must work to protect the rights of all citizens, including minorities, migrants, women, transgender people, and refugees.
