In 2022, finding housing in the Netherlands is challenging for internationals, students, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. Global Human Rights Defence conducted a 2022 Housing Vulnerability Survey to understand factors contributing to housing vulnerability. The report discusses the right to adequate housing in international human rights law, its relation to non-discrimination, domestic laws and regulations, and the Netherlands’ policies to address the housing crisis. It also reviews previous research on housing vulnerability patterns in the Netherlands and shares the results of the survey. The report also introduces the National Action Plan on Human Rights and the National Student Housing Action Plan.
