During this online panel, the GHRD will discuss the right to self-determination. The panel provides a forum for diverse panellists from all over the globe, who will address questions such as: What does the right to self-determination entail? What kind of impact does the right of self-determination have on indigenous communities? What steps should be taken by internal and external factors to strengthen this right? While the main focus lies on the indigenous communities of the Amazon, the panel will also touch upon indigenous communities in other geographical areas and their right to self-determination.
Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD) is proud to announce that this May it will be hosting the Human Rights Film Festival The Hague, for the very first time.
This event will be an opportunity for filmmakers and attendees, to shed light on human rights issues across the globe, through the language of moving pictures. Throughout the day, several films will be presented. Various NGOs and filmmakers submitted their movies, eager to raise awareness on issues close to their heart.
All screenings will be accompanied by a panel discussion, which will be hosted by GHRD representatives. Panellists will include, amongst others, Mr. Stefan Ziegler. He is a successful Humanitarian Practitioner, lecturer, and producer for AdvocacyProductions. We are happy that the panelists will help us and our audience understanding and discussing the issues.
This event is directed towards young political activists and students from all over the world. Global Human Rights Defence strongly believes in the power and impact of future generations across the globe wanting to make a difference! We hope to welcome students and young professionals from all Universities of the Netherlands and beyond.
The festival will also create a platform for people in The Hague to connect, exchange ideas, and discuss the interdisciplinarity of Human Rights work.
This first edition of the Human Rights Film Festival The Hague will be hosted at Pathé Buitenhof, in the heart of the city. Registration will open till the 10th of May 2022. For more information on movies and panels click here
