REO and GHRD organize event on the eve of International Women’s Day 2022
Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD) and Research and Empowerment Organization (REO) organized a program on the eve of International Women’s Day 2022 at Pirgonj, Rangpur in Bangladesh.
This year, GHRD and REO observed the International women day- 2022 differently by helping the village’s brave females. These women were affected due to their religious Identity and fight against atrocity. Incentive was provided to 22 families and scholarships were given to 5 students to encourage them to fight against atrocities.
The Organizations appreciated these awardees for their great work and provided incentive to the women who bravery captured attackers who came to attack religious minorities on 17th March 2021 at Pirgonj. The attackers had burnt and destroyed 30 families’ houses and looted all the belongings.
When the attackers attacked their village, a brave woman Ms Purnima Rani Das went to hide herself but she went back to her house to find her family members. She found that the attackers had set fire to her house and was looting all belongings. She captured him with the help of her family members and after a few hours, handed them over to the police. GHRD and REO rewarded her for her bravery and appreciated her to fight against atrocity.
The Chief Guest for the event was Mr Gouranga Dey. Special Guest Mohammed Anower Hossain was also present. Hindu Budddisht Okkaya Parishad leader Mr Dulal Mujumder, Bhubutibhusan, Amerul Jamal Rual, Coordinator Nirmolendu Roy, Young President Rajesh Naha, Treasurer Bijoy Saha were also there. REO’s Chairman and GHRD Coordinator Prof Chandan Kumar Sarkar presided over the meeting. More than two hundred and fifty men and female were present on the occasion.
