The Gambia has filed a case against Myanmar in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), alleging that the country has violated its duties under the Genocide Convention by committing atrocities against ethnic Rohingyas in the Rakhine State between 2016 and 2019. The Rohingyas, a Muslim minority, are primarily Buddhist and speak Burmese. Myanmar does not recognize the Rohingya ethnic group and refers to them as Bengalis, causing them to flee to Bangladesh.
