This report highlights the human rights violations faced by Bangladeshi women, despite constitutional guarantees of equality. Despite the country’s constitutional guarantee of equality, women still face significant disadvantages, including high rates of violence against women and girls, limited access to basic human rights, and increased domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic. The government has adopted a strong legal and policy framework to address these issues, but the challenges extend to various social groups, including human trafficking, slave labor, poverty, climate change, health, and politics. Bangladesh is a South Asian country with a population of over 163.1 million and a parliamentary democracy where the official language is Bengali. The country is known for extreme poverty, with many small farmers struggling to make a living. The garment industry, a crucial sector, has low wages and illiteracy rates among the labor force, further exacerbating the issue.
