Bangladesh, a predominantly Islamic country in South Asia, is one of the world’s most densely populated and rural countries, with a high dependency on agriculture. However, the country’s high natural susceptibility to extreme weather makes it susceptible to climate change. With rising sea-level rise, the country faces constant climate disasters, affecting a significant part of its population. The crisis has exposed gender inequality, and precarious conditions for refugees, and exacerbated poverty and marginalization of natives. This report aims to analyze the impacts of climate change in Bangladesh and its impact on thousands of citizens, focusing on climate refugees and the Bangladesh Government’s response to these issues. Understanding the complexity and impact of climate change is crucial for addressing the country’s challenges.
