It covers 2,150,000 km2 and is bordered by Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Yemen. The country has a rich history of ancient cultures and is currently an absolute totalitarian monarchy. In 1938, petroleum was discovered in the Eastern Province, making Saudi Arabia the world’s second-largest oil producer and exporter. The country has a population of around 35 million.
