54th Session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC)

ghrd organized a side event during the 54^th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on “Recognizing the Genocide of Bengali Citizens in 1971: Preserving Historical Truth and Promoting Human Rights” on 5 October 2023 (11:00-12:00), at Palais Des Nations, Geneva, to shed light on this overlooked and under-recognized atrocity.

Some of the attendees at the event will include Harry van Bommel – Dutch politician and former member of the Dutch socialist party, Sanchita Haque – a career diplomat of Bangladesh, who currently serves at the Permanent Mission in Bangladesh to the UN, Anthonie Holslag – a lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, holding a doctorate degree in anthropology and genocide studies, and our very own Sradhanand Sital, the chairman of ghrd.
