ghrd AND THE UNITED NATIONS

The United Nations is an international and intergovernmental organization, founded in 1945 after the Second World War. It was created in light of the horrors of the war to act on issues confronting humanity such as maintaining international peace and security, protecting human rights, delivering humanitarian aid, promoting sustainable development, and upholding international law.

The mission of the organization has been guided by the UN Charter, an instrument of international law that the members are bound to. It codifies major principles of international relations, varying from the prohibition of the use of force in international settings to maintaining the sovereign equality of states.

55th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)

ghrd is attending the 55th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, covering interactive dialogues, a conference, protests and for the first time ghrd will conduct its own photo exhibition.

On Monday the Baloch National Movement (BNM) will hold its 4^th International Conference on Baluchistan: “Unveiling Injustice: Balochistan’s Political and Human Rights Struggle- Global Perspectives and Responsibilities”.  The next day they will initiate a poster exhibition and awareness campaign kick-off, as well as a protest demonstration.

On Tuesday the Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC) will hold a protest demonstration on Balochistan’s struggle. Also, the ghrd team will meet with the Special Rapporteur on Minority Rights along with World Sindhi Congress (WSC) and BHRC partners.

On Wednesday the World Sindhi Congress (WSC) will organize a protest demonstration to raise their voices against forced conversion, enforced disappearances, and bonded labor.

On Thursday ghrd will conduct a protest on the ongoing campaign ‘’Final Call to Pakistan’’.

On Friday ghrd will conduct its first photo exhibition on ‘’Silent Genocide in Pakistan’’, showcasing posters and banners highlighting various issues faced by minorities in Pakistan.
