On March 8, 2025, GHRD members Ana and Kavita attended the Tibet Days event in The Hague, marking a significant occasion—the 66th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising and the anticipation of the “Year of Compassion” in honor of the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday.
The day featured a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Resistance in Focus.” The panel explored the intersections of human rights, political resistance, and global solidarity, with a diverse group of experts sharing their insights. Participants included East Asia expert Casper Wits from Leiden University, Eastern Europe expert Gulnaz Sibgatullina from the University of Amsterdam, and Chemi Lhamo, Campaigns Director at Students for a Free Tibet (SFT Int.), among others.
The discussion highlighted the challenges faced by marginalized communities, offering a platform for voices advocating for Tibet and other oppressed groups worldwide. Ana and Kavita found the session to be a valuable opportunity to engage with ongoing human rights discourse, reinforcing GHRD’s commitment to promoting justice and solidarity across borders.
The Tibet Days event also provided an enriching experience of exploring the intersection of Asian and European perspectives on culture, politics, and human rights, making it a significant moment for reflection and future action.
